What was The Chanel Project?
Well it was my weekly painting project for 2023 which I did alongside my usual work. Even though I absolutely LOVE doing my big detailed oil paintings I sometimes feel like being much more relaxed and carefree with my art so for 2023 I set aside some time each week to put this into action. These ‘Little Collectibles’ were available for purchase here on my website every Thursday.

I decided to just pick one subject matter and paint it 52 different ways and what better and more beautiful an object to choose than an iconic bottle of Chanel No.5? My inspiration came from different art movements, famous paintings, famous artists as well as trying out techniques that I wouldn’t normally do. Each piece was 210mm square and by selecting a single object it means that I HAD to change how I paint it and pushed all the boundaries by creating over 50 styles! I hoped that I may discover techniques and ideas I could adopt in my main artistic practice too. 😊
